Led by Vet Leanne Evertsen in Galway, this service takes the guesswork out of choosing a dog by combining professional veterinary insight with an understanding of your daily life and preferences.
After booking, we meet online or in person to talk about your household, lifestyle, experience, and expectations. From that, I create a shortlist of breeds and dog types that best fit you — looking at traits like temperament, exercise needs, grooming, lifespan, and health. You’ll receive a written summary with recommendations, advice and next steps for finding your perfect match.
No — not at all. Many clients are interested in rescue or mixed-breed dogs, and the same principles apply. The goal isn’t to promote any breed, but to help you understand what type of dog is most likely to thrive with you — whether that’s a purebred puppy or a wonderful crossbreed from a rescue centre.
Because as a vet, I see every side of dog ownership — the joy and the heartbreak. Some mismatches lead to behaviour problems, stress, or rehoming. My aim is to set you and your future dog up for success by using evidence-based guidance and years of clinical experience to help you make an informed, realistic choice.
I’m based in Galway, but consultations are available nationwide via video call. In-person visits around Galway, Barna, and nearby areas can be arranged by request.

No. Which Dog? does not breed, sell, or rehome dogs. I work independently to advise you and point you towards reputable breeders or rescue centres once you know what type of dog to look for.
Life changes — and sometimes that affects your pet. I offer follow-up consultations if you need help adapting your dog’s care, routine, or training to new circumstances.
